Ext JS 2.0 Final released!

I’ve been using Ext JS 2.0 since its first release and finally the final version came down to earth!

The Ext team is proud to announce that the official release of Ext v2.0 is available for download. This new version of the Ext framework is the culmination of many long hours of work and dedication by the Ext Core team as well as our community of testers and supporters. Ext 2.0 is a dramatic step forward from all previous versions of Ext, providing increased performance, ease of configurations, flexibility and UI capabilities.

We’ve also made learning how to use Ext much easier with a completely revamped document center and expanded & better organized samples. All of this without a significant library size increase in this new version.

Ext v1.1 released

Yesterday Jack and his team have released Ext v1.1.

The 1.1 version includes the new stand-alone version of Ext, a lightweight HTML editor, a new Ext.Ajax utility class, enhancements to DateField and DatePicker, expanded documentation and bug fixes.

Ext doesn’t depend on 3rd party libraries anymore.

An important step in Ext’s evolution as it’s no longer a requirement that you use a 3rd-party base library when developing an application with Ext. The Ext framework will continue to include adapters for other popular libraries to allow you, the developer, to choose the most appropriate library for your project.

Ext now features it’s own lightweight WYSIWYG Editor.
Ext WYSIWYG Editor
At first it looks to work really well and fast, but if you take a look at the source output you’ll notice it’s not xHTML valid. Hopefully this will be improved in later releases.

As usual you can download it directly or build your own custom package.

Ext 1.1 Beta 1

Ext 1.1 Beta 1 is available since yesterday, great news! looks like 1.1 final lies on our doorsteps.

Ext Stand-alone
Ext can now run on it’s own without a base library. The ext-base file weighs in at 34kb minimized. This is less than YUI utilities + adapter (58kb), Prototype/Scriptaculous + adapter (71kb) or jQuery + required plugins + adapter (62kb – minimized, not packed).

Since it can now run on it’s own, maybe one of the many “JavaScript Library/Framework” comparisons we keep seeing around the net will one day include Ext!

HTML Editor
A lightweight WYSIWYG html editor. You can see it in action here.

DateField enhancements
New flexible user input dates parsing and a new month/year selection implementation. Thanks to everyone for providing us with feedback on how it *should* be done! You can see it in action on the same forms page.

Ext.Ajax
A simple API for executing non UpdateManager handed Ajax requests. Internally all Ajax requests in Ext go through Ext.Ajax and it exposes global Ajax events you can listen for.

Behaviors
Ext.addBehaviors(…) allows for easy attaching of behaviors/DOM event handlers in Ext 1.1.

Improved API Documentation
Check it out and see for yourself. For everyone who has been making contributions to the documentation, thank you!!

Dow Jones running on Extjs

Today I noticed the Dow Jones website uses Ext JS to display the Dow Jones Indexes and it’s also used to display the search results and some other stuff, pretty cool! This is yet another proof of the power of Ext JS and of course javascript.

Hi again :)

It’s been quiet for some weeks, so I tought it would be time to post something again.

Last weeks there have been some interesting updates, which were especially important for Pagebakery.

First of all a new version of Cakephp 1.1 and 1.2 has been released.

Secondly Ext 1.0 has been released. This release also includes ‘Build your own Ext‘ which allows you to generate an Ext package with your own needs.

And last but not least, I’ve got some more news about Pagebakery. We’ve made some good progress last weeks and we’re planning to release the first developer release this weekend. It’s not gonna be a fully functional release, but rather a really early pre-alpha release to get some input from outside hopefully. Be sure to check out the Pagebakery blog this weekend!
